ASL Initials

handzzz

One of the first project we were given in my figure and drawing class this semester was to draw hands in the shape of our initials in ASL using even weight lines.

Overall this was a great way to persuade my class to draw hands in interesting ways and to take notes on how the flesh folds. It also presented an interesting problem to be solved for me as the letter ā€œJā€ in ASL involves moving. Thus, I needed to find a way to convey that within the picture. Great practice for drawing both from reference and for drawing hands in general, something I believe that everyone needs help with.
