Illustrated Journal: Paper Collages

Once again, another amazing artist and their work was shared on thisiscollossal. This time, the artist was Morgana Wallace and her amazing paper cut collages.

By creating her work out of these different papers instead of simply drawing them, it gives how work interesting textures and depth that otherwise would be impossible to obtain. Each different piece of paper has a new texture, and even if she reuses the same paper, the texture still feels fresh elsewhere as she changes the movement of the texture and grains of the paper. This and the depth and shadows that come from layering these papers on top of one another, the end result is some dynamic compositions without the need for the characters to necessarily to be in dynamic poses. The amount of detail and vivid color in Wallace’s work is also quite vivid and stunning, creating more visual interest within the artworks.
